Doors open at 6 pm, serving begins at 6:30 pm and the program gets underway at 7:30 pm with a short business meeting to follow. Forty members and guests made merry at our annual Christmas party at the Columns. Jim Hostler and friends led us in a sing-along of traditional and some not so traditional carols followed by our rob-thy-neighbor gift exchange. Chris Lehmann, decked out in full Santa regalia, refereed the mayhem. At his direction, numbers were called at random, making it harder to plan the larceny. Proving that sometimes the last finish first, Jean Murry opened the final gift – a model DC-3. Very appropriate, given that she helped refurbish a Wings of Hope DC-3 a couple of years ago. The Columns supplied an excellent buffet of baked salmon and roast prime rib with all the trimmings, while our members brought cookies and other goodies for dessert. A good time was had by all!
News from State: Bob Crandall thanked our chapter for our donation to the MPA Katrina Relief fund and for our individual generosity in donating clothing, food, and other supplies for this effort.
The Midwest Aviation Conference and Trade Show (MACTS) that combines the Super Safety Seminar and the GSLFIA Flight Instructors Revalidation Clinic is scheduled for January 7-8 at the Busch Student Center at St. Louis University. We hope many of our members will attend. Featured speakers include Scott Crossfield and Cathé Fish. The Gateway and St. Louis Chapters of MPA will share a booth at the MACTS to educate the attendees about our groups and solicit new members. For more information on the conference, visit the MACTS web site at www.macts.org/index.html
Our January fly-out is scheduled for January 15 to Sikeston, MO (SIK). Lambert’s Restaurant is always a riot, so plan to arrive at SIK at about 12:30 pm to join the fun!
