Our August Meeting will be on Saturday August 5th at the 94th Aero Squadron at 1PM. Since everybody enjoyed our January Meeting at the 94th Aero Squadron we will be having our Summer BBQ there. Watch the activity at STL from the patio area as you enjoy your meal. If it is too hot for you simply step inside and enjoy the AC in our own private area - the Cabaret. There will be a variety of offerings to enjoy: Menu is the Wrangler's Buffet : Hickory smoked Chicken Quarters in BBQ Sauce, Hickory Smoked Pork Steaks in BBQ Sauce, Fresh Garden Salad with House Dressing, Pasta Salad, Corn on the Cob, Green Beans, Baby Red Potatoes, Dinner Rolls & Butter, Brownies & Cookies. August Fly-Out will be on Sunday, August 6th to Rantoul IL (2I5) for their annual Fire on the Prairie Airfest. It is a 175 mile (152nm) trip. Their AirShow runs from 1400 to 1600 so if we depart Spirit around 0900 it should give us plenty of time to visit the Museum, check out the Static Ramp and have a bite to eat. Call Richard at 636-405-0142 if you would like to join the group. We had a great time at Cape Girardeau's AirShow in July even though it was hot.

The Fair & AirShow on Labor Day Weekend is not too far away. The Blue Angels return along with the Red Barons and several new performers who have not been to the St Louis County Fair & AirShow before. Volunteers are needed to work at the MPA Booth near the Static Ramp (call Bob Crandell at 314-382-3923), and on the Hot and Static Ramps (call Richard Baricko at 636-405-0142).

Spirit Airport Support Group
Chris Erkmann, St. Louis Chapter MPA, is the volunteer representative of the Spirit of St. Louis Airport to the AOPA Airport Support Network. As such, he is 'testing the waters' to verify the level of interest there might be if a Spirit Airport Support Group were to be formed. To date, over one-hundred people have stepped forward.
