Fly-Out to Meigs (CGX) [Postponed until October since the Young Eagles Program will not be held on August 10th. So we will have a 'quickie' flyout/lunch at (KMTO) Coles County
Airport in Mattoon IL for lunch at the Airport Steakhouse.

The Chicago "DODO" Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen is proud to be a co-sponsor of the Young Eagles program in Chicago. Since the summer of 1994, they have combined forces with EAA pilots to create something really special for the local kids. There is no commercial traffic on weekends at CGX. Meigs will waive all landing and parking fees for pilots flying in for the Young Eagles Rally.

If you missed the fly-out to Meigs last year you missed a great time. Why not join the group this year?

Call William Duke at 636 256-9312 or send him an email at TPGU2000@aol.com by August 8th if you plan to join us. We plan to meet at JetCorp at 0900 and depart at 0920.

August 24
Zenith Aircraft's Open Hangar Day at Mexico Airport (H41).

The 20,000 sq.ft. Zenith Aircraft kit production facilities will be open to the public for factory tours and Zenith's factory demonstrator kit aircraft will be on display. You will be able to see all of their aircraft built and flying. If you click the picture on the right you will be taken to their website for more information.

August 30th - September 2nd

This year's AirShow will be a little different in that there will be three AirShows from 1200 to 1830 with a one-hour break in-between. Starting off will be Military Demonstration Teams and Heritage Flights followed by the Blue Angels, then the Red Barons. Tora Tora Tora will close the show with their Zero fighters, Kate torpedo bombers and Val dive bombers you've seen in the movie, as they recreate the bombing of Pearl Harbor (Last act because of the pyrotechnics and the clean up required.).

Volunteers are needed especially if you can volunteer to help starting on Tuesday, August 27th in preparation for the arrival of the Blue Angels who will do a practice show on Thursday. Military Aircraft, Warbirds and other aircraft will be arriving on Thursday & Friday, with a Practice AirShow on Friday afternoon starting with the Blue Angels. Richard will contact the prior year's van drivers, pilots who will get first priority at driving up and down the taxiways. As in prior years we will work out of the Operations Center on the Hot Ramp where we will assign rental cars, provide welcome packets, T-shirts, etc. to all incoming Military & Civilians who will be in the AirShow or on the Static Ramp. To volunteer send an email to Richard@SpiritAirport.org stating availability or call Richard at 636-458-4576 or
