Wednesday October 4th
Our Guest Speaker at our October 4th meeting will be Joe Schuengel, Chief Pilot, Missouri State Highway Patrol. He has been a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol since 1993 and has been flying both fixed wing and helicopters since 2002. He has had a host of other duties and positions since becoming a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Second Annual Statewide MPA Picnic
The Springfield Chapter is hosting the Second Annual Statewide MPA Picnic and Board of Directors meeting to be held Saturday, October 7th, (rain date: October 14th) at Rebel's Bluff Airstrip near Mt Vernon, Missouri. Start arriving at 10:00 AM. A Bar-B-Que lunch will be catered for a small donation. Please, please R.S.V.P. to allow us to provide adequate food for all.
This is your chance to observe the Board of Directors in action, and see how the process operates. Please bring any ideas that you may have to offer for the future of the Missouri Pilots Association.
If Flying: Rebel's Bluff Airstrip is 2,200 'x 75' of very nice sod runway's 14/32. It is located 2 miles north-north east of Mt Vernon Municipal Airport (2MO), coordinates are N37 06.1 and W93 52.2. Use 122.9 UNICOM to announce your position relative to 2MO. If unable to land on sod, use Mt Vernon Airport, (call, ahead if possible) and we will provide transportation to the Bluff. Avgas 100LL will be available only at Rebel's Bluff. There is no fuel at 2MO.
If Driving: Take Interstate 44 to Exit 44 (middle Mt Vernon exit), turn right if coming from Springfield, and turn left if coming from Joplin. Proceed on Mt Vernon Blvd for 1.4 miles, and watch for "right lane must turn right" signs. Turn right on Highway 39. Go ONLY 1/4 (One quarter) mile, and turn left on Highway "V"/ Sloan Street. Continue 2.4 miles until you see white vinyl fence and the airstrip on your left. Parking will be on the right side of the road off LCI 105.
